Merv often spreads joy by calling high profile product development companies, and offers suggestions. He says it's the only form of prank calling that no one prosecutes. Mad Merv is responsible for changing the name of the proposed show "The Colbert Nation" (a show whose name was based on Steven Colbert's website) to "The Colbert Report", which he felt was a far better name. He also gave Steven a push out of "The Daily Show" door to the adjunct, related show now appearing as 'The Colbert Report' on Comedy Central.
